Message from Madam Shi Ziming

A bridge to bring the two peoples closer together

First and foremost, congratulations on the publishing of the new issue of CAAAM magazine “ABRIDGE”!

In order to strengthen communication and friendship between China and all the fellow participants, who had joined the seminars, workshops and training programs sponsored by the Chinese government. Our Embassy established China-Aid Alumni Association of Malaysia (CAAAM) since 2015. Over the last 7 years, more than 600 Malaysian participants have been selected to go for training programs in different places in China.

The just-concluded 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has set the direction for China’s future and outlined China’s commitment to the world. China advocates an open world economy and promotes trade and investment liberalization and facilitation; China has launched a new platform for international cooperation and common prosperity with the Belt and Road Initiative.

As President Xi Jinping vowed, China will not close its doors to the world, we will only become more and more open. China will continue to open up its market by implementing a proactive import policy and providing more access for foreign products to enter the Chinese market through such measures as hosting China International Import Expo from 2018. China will also offer Belt and Road countries and regions 10,000 places in study and training programs in China, in support of capacity building for trade, investment and economic talent in related countries. These efforts will create huge market demand and abundant cooperation opportunities.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1974, China-Malaysia ties have gained rapid, comprehensive and in-depth growth, with deepening mutual trust, thriving economic and trade cooperation as well as frequent cultural and educational exchanges. Now the friendship between China and Malaysia is at its best in history. The two countries are close neighbours, trustworthy friends and reliable partners.

It is satisfying to note that in the past four decades we have witnessed not only expanding in trade and investment cooperation but also enhancing people-to-people connectivity. More and more Malaysian government officials, professionals and businessmen participate in various training programs held in China and better understand China. As a communication platform, CAAAM has been playing an increasingly important role in enhancing people-to-people interactions between Malaysia and China. Meanwhile, CAAAM Magazine “ABRIDGE” has been serving as a bridge of experience exchange for alumni to enhance mutual understanding.

We look forward to your active involvement in sharing your valuable memories and unforgettable experiences in China in the magazine. We sincerely hope CAAAM would become an important channel through which all of the alumni could be reunited just because of your similar experience in China.

For those who would like to get a better understanding of China, “ABRIDGE” is a bridge, which will certainly further strengthen the mutual trust and bring the two peoples closer together.

Wish ABRIDGE a full success!

Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of People’s Republic of China to Malaysia
